Creating a Retail Innovation Process for a Packaged Goods Manufacturer
The Problem
The consumer division of a large pharmaceutical company wanted to elevate its image among retailers through leadership thinking and the development of new concepts to drive sales and profits.
The Approach
WSL Strategic Retail used shopper insights to help management think and act like leaders. Beginning with How America Shops® shopper insights we helped the company understand new retail formats. We conducted a Retail Safari to see new shopping experiences. We identified new (and often surprising!) retail opportunities, and helped the company understand how to translate them to specific retail chains. Together we brainstormed concepts and developed appropriate action plans to present to retailers.
The Result
The company has begun to successfully build specific innovation programs with three of its retail partners.
